A Romanian hacking group has defaced a couple of subdomains over at popular UK paper the Telegraph. This attack seems to be in retaliation for comments made on motoring show "Top Gear".
Thankfully, these pages were "only" defaced, and no malware appears to have been served. Usually, Internet miscreants can be relied upon to use illicit access to popular sites in order to serve malicious content, but it seems our protagonists were happy just to set the record straight - gypsies are not Romanians, we're reminded.
Apparently, James May, a Telegraph columnist made some disparaging remarks about Romania on Top Gear - something regular viewers won't find particularly surprising, as the show barely goes out of its way to spare anyone's feelings!
The sites are now back to normal, thanks in part to the diligence of malware analysts over at Sunbelt Software where this story broke.
